When you think of something that is immovable, the first thing that often comes to mind is a mountain. It is immovable because it is fixed in one location. It would take extreme force to move a mountain. Similarly, the immovable man is the one who is firmly fixed on God’s Word and has absolute confidence in God’s love for him. He trusts God and nothing, regardless of the circumstances, can separate him from the love of God. In addition, he has made God’s Word his final authority. He knows God’s love, receives it, and walks in it. He is fixed, steady, unchangeable, and unaffected by negative emotions or situations. He is convinced that the Word of God is true. He does not waiver.
There is a difference between faith and trust. Faith is confidence in God and His Word, but trust is a commitment to stay planted on God’s Word even when everything in you wants to doubt. When we commit to trust God, we can never be defeated.
The immovable man has a personal relationship with God and it is that personal relationship which enables him to live a life that pleases Him. Psalm 15:2-5 clearly describes this type of person.
He who walks and lives uprightly and blamelessly, who works rightness and justice and speaks and thinks the truth in his heart, He who does not slander with his tongue, nor does evil to his friend, nor takes up a reproach against his neighbor; In whose eyes a vile person is despised, but he who honors those who fear the Lord (who revere and worship Him); who swears to his own hurt and does not change … He who does these things shall never be moved (The Amplified Bible).
Living uprightly before God, and honoring and respecting Him are characteristics of the person whose faith is unshakeable.
Another key aspect of becoming immovable is knowing that there is nothing you can do to earn God’s love. You are loved by Him and made righteous by the blood of Jesus and not because of your works. As a result, you become immovable when circumstances and situations present themselves.
Romans 8:38, 39 says, “For I am persuaded beyond doubt (am sure) that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor things impending and threatening nor things to come, nor powers, Nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (AMP). When you are confident in God’s love for you, not even your own mistakes and shortcomings can cause you to turn your back on God.
Walking in the love of God is also a benchmark of being immovable. Because God is love, and we are made in His image, we have the ability to walk in love at all times. Despite what others may say, we do not have to be moved by our emotions when people come against us. By confidently displaying love toward God and others, we fulfill the commandment God gave to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. We can remain firmly fixed on the love of God which will protect us from the attacks of the enemy.
The immovable man is a person of faith; like Abraham, whose faith was counted to him as righteousness. When we live by faith, specifically faith in God’s love for us, we know what He has spoken will come to pass in our lives. We will not doubt God’s willingness and ability to bring His promises to pass when we know He loves us and wants the best for us.
Faith works by love. Walking in the love of God fuels our faith and helps to strengthen us, making us immovable, like a mountain, against the storms of life. When we stand firm in His love, nothing will be able to come against us and succeed.
Trusting God must be the lifestyle of the Believer. It is what keeps us firm, steadfast, and secure no matter what we go through. BE BLESSED THIS DAY
