2nd Corinthians 8:9
"For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich"
Some people believe that its God's will for one to live on earth as poor person on earth however let me shock you, God is a Rich! God says in psalms 50:10 that "for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills" God continues to say in Haggai 2:8 that "The silver is mine and the gold is mine,' declares the LORD Almighty".
It is true that there are men like Lazarus who died poor but later inherited the kingdom of God with its riches, and some other prophets like Elijah, Elisha, who even lacked what to eat were poor but later inherited the kingdom of God. below are some of the reasons why God wants you to be rich.
1. God wants to prosper Christians today so that they will not live for themselves but rather finance the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Matthew 24:14 says "And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come"
2. God wants you to be rich so that you will be able to give to the needy proverbs 19:17 says that "He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done"
3. God wants you to be rich so that you will have good health and all will go well with you.3rd john 1:12 Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.
4. God wants you to be rich because you are His Child. John 1:12....To them that believed Him( Jesus) He gave them the Right to become children of God.
The Bible talks about Men of God that were very rich for example Abraham, the Bible says in Genesis 13:2 that (Abram was very rich in livestock, silver, and gold.) The Bible in Genesis 26:13 says this about Isaac...The man became rich, and his wealth continued to grow until he became very wealthy.
The Bible says that Job owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred donkeys, and had a large number of servants. He was the greatest man among all the people of the East.(Job 1:3).
God has called us to be rich so that we may finance the Gospel, so that the gospel will reach every where in the world. if Christians do not finance the Gospel who is going to do so? the secular world is busy financing mischief like homosexuality, lesbianism, drink up parties, knicker parties, among others.
if Christians determine to Give into the work of God through the churches and also support the welfare of the servants of God, the church is going to be able to reach every where with the Gospel. the Gospel will be preached in market places, universities, schools, villages, on satellite, Facebook, twitter e.t.c then the end will come.
However the church is called to be faithful with the wealth that is given, to use this to the best wealth for the glorification of the kingdom of God rather than self enrichment.
God has called us to;
1. worship Him( Jesus answered, "It is written: "Worship the Lord your God and serve him only".Luke 4:8.
2. work for the wealth ("He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need. Ephesians 4:28.
3. Live a wealthy life. (The man became rich, and his wealth continued to grow until he became very wealthy) Genesis 26:13.
